West HQ is rolling back the years to 1964 when the Beatles took America by storm, Martin Luther King received the Nobel Peace Prize and celebrating when Fred Chubb and 126 other local community members established the Rooty Hill RSL Club on North Parade, Rooty Hill.
Thanks to our growing membership over the years we relocated to our current address in 1972, and Rooty Hill RSL’s growth laid the foundation for West HQ.
Over the past six decades, we’ve seen many significant developments:
1974 -Opening of the Fred Chubb Lounge
1976 – Opening of the Tivoli Showroom
1992 – Opening of the RSL Resort (now the Novotel)
2003 – Building a new Sports Lounge including a TAB to further accommodate our members.
2008 – Investment in a state-of-the-art SGAC Health & Fitness Aquatic – now known as One55 Health & Fitness
2013 – Custom built SGAC centre opened to provide local families with gymnastics and aquatics classes for all ages
2019 – Re-development and launch of Eat Street Central – a unique dining experience featuring top chefs
2019 – Stunning new Sydney Coliseum Theatre venue opened offering a world-class concert facility in Rooty Hill
2019 – Chu Restaurant by China Doll opens
2023 – New Town Thai Restaurant opens, while Harriet’s Chicken is launched within Eat Street Central
