The inaugural NAB RunWest has won the Community Event of the Year Award at the prestigious NSW Community Sports Awards for 2019.
West HQ was proud to be a founding partner of this milestone event for Western Sydney and to host the official NAB RunWest Finish Festival, in partnership with Athletics Australia, Athletics NSW and New South Wales Government.
At the awards ceremony on Thursday 20 June, hosted by the Minister for Sport, the Hon. John Sidoti MP, NAB RunWest was recognised as the largest inaugural fun run in Australia, reaching an unprecedented 7,500 participants.
Catering for all ages and fitness levels, the event included a 12km fun run and a family 4km event, promoting the significant benefits of a fit and healthy lifestyle.
NAB RunWest was also commended for working collaboratively with government, venues and sponsors to provide a safe, inclusive and successful event, attracting much media coverage and funds for charities.
West HQ CEO Richard Errington said it was an honour to be involved in bringing NAB RunWest to life and to see so many from the region participate.
We look forward to growing this event and supporting even more initiatives within the Great West which focus on health and wellbeing.
“Congratulations to everyone who made NAB RunWest the huge success it was. To see the event being recognised for its outstanding contribution to New South Wales sport in just the first year is incredible.
A legacy event for the Western Sydney community has been created and we look forward to doing it all again next year.”
